ChatGPT can now check people out directly on Shopify. Getting recommended in the first place is a different question, and most merchants have no idea where they stand.
Imagine this: it’s 9pm in Toronto, a customer types into ChatGPT: "best sustainable activewear under $100, ships here."
The response comes back with three brands. Each has a little Buy button next to it. She taps one. The order is confirmed thirty seconds later, direct from Shopify checkout. No store visit, no comparison shopping, no chance for anyone else to enter the conversation.
One of those three stores got a customer. The other seventeen brands that could have been good fits for her query were never in the room.
You spent eighteen months building yours. You run Meta ads. You've got an email list, a blog, seven integrations, and a newsletter that your friends actually read. None of that mattered for this sale. ChatGPT picked three names, and you either were one of them or you weren't.
