What Is A Coming Soon Page?

A coming soon page is also called a pre-launch page. Or even known as an under-construction page.

Whatever you call it, it is a landing page that shows on your website or product before it is ready. It's a temporary page that directs people to lead capturing before your launch.

In essence, you don't have to just wait until you are ready. With a Coming Soon page, you are already doing the works of pre-launch marketing.

Your Coming Soon page sets the expectation for your visitors to look forward to.

By setting up their expectations, you're more likely to get them to subscribe to your email list. And follow you on social media.

Not only that, but you can also encourage your followers to share your brand on their social media accounts.

That gains you traction for your digital marketing strategy before even launching. How awesome is that?

You can give them heads-up about opportunities such as pre-orders and discounts. They can receive news related to your brand, just like your launch date.

With that, they are now potential customers lining up to buy your product.

Potential customers are not the only thing you can gain with a coming soon page.

You can also gain...

Listen, it's never too early to focus on your website's analytics.

With your Coming Soon page, you can try to send your message across in different ways. Use your visitor's feedback to tweak your ideas.

Feel free to play around with different copies and designs. Finally, check which way converts best before your launch.

You can reap these benefits will a great Coming Soon page. So, how should yours look like?

Why Do You Need A Coming Soon Page?

What Should A Powerful Coming Soon Page Contain?

Are you planning to have your coming soon page as a short-term placeholder? Or do you want it to be a longer-term pre-launch marketing strategy?

Your page's look and what it contains all depend on what you want to achieve. As I said, there are many ways you can go with it.

But an effective Shopify Coming Soon page should have these objectives:

Proposes Your Value

Let's go back to the Coming Soon page example I've shown you. Do you remember all the aspects you like about it?

Well, let me tell you what I admire about it.

Their copy is on point. It's short and tells you exactly what you can expect from it. It also immediately tell their potential users what's in it for them.

Your Coming Soon page should do the same as well. It should describe what is "coming soon." And of course, when exactly your eCommerce business will come.

Provide them with a timeline so they can anticipate more. Why not include a countdown timer in your header to display the date of your launch?

Proposes Your Value

Builds Pre-Launch Email List

Don't let potential customers slip through your hands with a sub-par Coming Soon page!

Capture your target audience with an email sign-up option. You can build your email list before even showing them your products. Plus, you can also accept pre-orders and retarget audiences.

Get them to join your email list with incentives such as:

  • Exclusive discounts
  • Giveaways
  • Free shipping
  • Helpful content

Don't forget to also create a compelling Call To Action. Establish a sense of urgency around the incentives before your launch.

Provides Visitors With A Way To Contact You

Your email list is a way for you to get in touch with your audience. Better yet, open up a two-way line of communication between you and them.

How you ask?

Add a live chat widget. You can quickly answer your customer's questions. After that, you can also ask for their honest feedback about your eCommerce business.

Provides Visitors With A Way To Contact You

Another way you can talk to your potential customers is through social media platforms. So, make your social media accounts are visible on your Coming Soon page.

Make it easy for them to find you by adding social sharing buttons. It will also increase the chances of them sharing it with their friends and family.

Now that you know what to include on a Coming Soon page, let's go ahead and create yours!

How To Create A Shopify Coming Soon Page

1. Create A Coming Soon Page With The Password Page

The easiest way to create a Coming Soon page is through the password page.

Your password page has everything you can ask for in a Coming Soon page. It already has email signup, the much-needed social sharing buttons, and more.

As the name suggests, this page can also be password protected. So, you can choose who can view your under way-website with a password.

The first thing you need to do is to create a Shopify password page with the best free eCommerce theme, Debutify.

Once you installed Debutify in one easy click, go to your Shopify admin homepage. Go to your theme and click Customize. You'll be directed to Debutify's homepage.

Hit "Others" on the top bar drop-down menu. Click on Password.

Customize it to your heart's desire. Just remember the important content it needs to have.

Create a cohesive Coming Soon page. Make sure that your message, logo, background color, and everything in between all look good together.

After you finish customizing, click Save.

And there you go! I told you it was easy.

If you're not sure about your design, you can try using a Shopify Coming Soon Page app.

2. Use A Shopify Coming Soon Page App

Alternatively, you can use Shopify page builders. It will let you launch a Coming Soon page with its own templates and different features.

Depending on the app, it can give you features such as a countdown of when you're ready to launch. Others can also collect leads for your business.

I want to give you a better idea of what your Coming Soon page should look like. So I compiled some of my preferred looks...

The background image does not overwhelm you once you enter the page. It also has a demo video where you can learn more about their services. The widget asking you what you're looking for is also a nice touch.

2. Disney+

Disney did not need to introduce itself. That's because they don't need to; everyone knows Disney. Instead, they put in a countdown to create excitement over their new service.

3. Duolingo

Duolingo

Duolingo shows a creative way of doing a countdown. How cute is that multilingual owl about to hatch?

4. Supply

Supply

You already have your pre-launch product in hand. Why not showcase it on your Coming Soon page? Supply used a minimalist picture of their product.

Not too showy, of course. You want to keep them on their toes. ?
